It doesn’t matter if the post was fully AI generated
Sora and what roles humans play in art
After Sora was released I had to pause to understand what roles us humans play in AI generated art. On one extreme, one could argue that AI is simply not capable of any art and therefore should be dismissed just on this basis.
But I feel this is too quick. The necessary condition for art is (at least for now) can a human appreciate it? Even if AI generates art, its value can exist in humans appreciating it. I think the parallels to photography are obvious - a scenery by itself is not art but the fact that a human decided it was worthy of a photo justifies it to have artistic value.
Ok but what about AI generated posts?
Similarly, should AI generated posts be dismissed? What if you read an interesting article but realised half way (because you spotted the word “delve”) that it was completely AI generated?
I think the answer is similar - if the post generated real and interesting human discussions on it, does it matter?
